Techint Italia will work on the Egyptian power emergency plan
Two turbo generators will be provided to the El Kureimat III power station. The country needs to confront the growing electric power demand.
In El Cairo, Techint Italia, through the consortium formed by Techint CimiMontubi and General Electric, signed a contract with the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company and the Upper Egypt Electricity Production Company, to provide two 250 MW GE turbo generators at the El Kureimat III power station.

The contract for the project is financed in foreign currency by the African Development Bank and in local currency by the Egyptian Government.

The construction of the power station is one of the short-term goals set for the Egyptian Ministry´s emergency program: in fact, the electric power demand has grown at a 7% annual rate, while the country is still suffering severe shortages in the power supply system.

Techint Italia will provide the design, the integral supply of the Balance of Plant (BoP), all the surface facilities and the general assistance to General Electric during the turbo generators and their auxiliary facilities´ start-up. The works shall be completed in 23 months and followed by a two year warranty period.
